Microserv-SDA Plate is a selective growth medium for the cultivation of fungi. It contains peptones for nutrition. It is generally used to cultivate dermatophytes and other types of fungi, and can also grow only filamentous bacteria such as Nocardia spp. The acidic pH (5.6) of Sabouraud agar inhibits the growth of bacteria which are generally present in the clinical samples.
